Romance in Victoria
Our new development VI Castle Lane sits in the perfect surroundings to treat yourself and your loved one to a special evening.
As the harsh winter chill only seems to get colder, our hearts can be warmed by a romantic evening in the capital.
Set against the backdrop of some of London’s most historic buildings – from Buckingham Palace and the Royal Mews to St James’ Park and Westminster – and with an array of beguiling destinations within minutes from each other, Victoria is the perfect setting for a wistful evening with the special someone in your life. Here’s our guide to your picturesque romantic day in the area.
Hit the shops
Victoria is packed full of luxury brands and boutiques offering great ideas to treat your significant other.
If you have time for a leisurely peruse, perfumery Les Senteurs on Elizabeth Street prides itself on being a place for customers to explore and discover different fragrances. With over 350 scents lining their shelves and expert knowledge on hand, you can be sure to find a fragrance that is perfectly suited to your lover. If you’re after even more choice, the Jo Loves boutique – from famed British perfumer Jo Malone – is just across the road. For something racier, Fréolic’s lingerie showroom off Victoria Street has some beautiful and timeless pieces that are guaranteed to get hearts racing. Or why not indulge in some classic heart-shaped chocolates from Hotel Chocolat at the Cardinal Place mall, complemented by an endearing teddy bear from the Buckingham Palace’s Royal Collection Shop.
Dinner and drinks
For an early dinner, head to the Michelin-starred Quilon, found on Buckingham Gate. The restaurant’s Head Chef Sriram Aylur – named one of the best in India – is an expert in South-west coastal Indian cuisine and a specialist in both ethnic and progressive dishes. With most plates designed for sharing, Quilon flawlessly evokes a romantic atmosphere.
If you have time, head to one of the bars at The Reuben’s at the Palace. The sumptuous and regal Cavalry Bar has a relaxed vibe, live music and offers a wide menu including ten-year-old single malt whisky that is bottled especially for the hotel in Speyside, Scotland. The Leopard Champagne Bar, on the other hand, offers a more intimate environment in which to cosy up. Pop one of their selection of 20 different champagnes to a romantic soundtrack of jazz music.
An evening to remember
For the evening’s entertainment, the Apollo Victoria Theatre is home to the internationally-acclaimed musical ‘Wicked’. Based on ‘The Wizard of Oz’, the show is the heartwarming untold tale of the story’s two witches and features an array of much-loved songs.
After leaving the theatre with guaranteed good vibes, why not top off the night by taking a room at The Goring? The Hotel is the only one in the world to have been granted a warrant by Queen Elizabeth and was the base for Kate Middleton and her family in the days leading up to her wedding to Prince William. With a selection of luxury rooms and suites available, you and your partner can spend the night like royalty as a special treat to end an amazing day.
